The Thief? honours Australian winemaking veteran, Natasha s Great Great Grandfather and early settler John Mooney, known as Walter who went to his grave in the late 1800 s, wrongly accused of stealing a neighbour s cow. Established in the late 1990 s the single vineyard is sectioned into four blocks where variety is matched to site to hand craft wines of distinction.

A brightly coloured, great Aussie blend that shows ripe, velvety fruit in the dark plum, blackberry and black cherry range with hints of oak spice, violets, licorice, olive tapenade, dried herbs and roasting meats. There is a ferrous-rust edge to the palate, thick with black fruits, tight, sandy tannin and an exit that tends towards graphite and broodiness.

Pair with Ribeye steak, grilled lamb chops, roast beef with herbs like rosemary / thyme. Smoky ribs, BBQ beef brisket, char?grilled sausages, smoked pork ribs. Slow?cooked casseroles; osso buco. Aged cheddar, smoked Gouda, mature hard cheeses.
