The Thief? honours Australian winemaking veteran, Natasha s Great Great Grandfather and early settler John Mooney, known as Walter who went to his grave in the late 1800 s, wrongly accused of stealing a neighbour s cow. Established in the late 1990 s the single vineyard is sectioned into four blocks where variety is matched to site to hand craft wines of distinction.

Magenta-edged crimson with aromas of plum compote, dark cherry and boysenberry fruits with hints of baking spice, citrus blossom, Cherry Ripe, earth and dark chocolate. Ditto on the palate, which flows medium bodied, with fine, sandy tannins and a pulse of sour cherry and spice on the exit.

Pairs well with Ribeye steak, sirloin, lamb chops (with a bit of char or crust), roast beef with herbs like rosemary / thyme. BBQ ribs. Beef stew, braised lamb, casseroles with tomato/herb base, osso buco. Hard or aged cheeses.
