Description and specs

The Harman Film 135-36 Harman Red 125 is a specialty color negative film that offers photographers a unique aesthetic for creative applications. This 35mm film has been engineered to produce a distinct color palette, heavily emphasizing the red, yellow, and orange tones. The film is reverse-rolled, which often means that the emulsion side faces outwards. This is more of a handling characteristic than an effect on the final image. It has an ISO speed of 125, making it a moderate-speed film suitable for a variety of lighting conditions. The film is developed using the standard C41 color negative processing, which is readily available at most film labs. The film introduces a strong red, yellow, and orange cast to images, creating a striking and vibrant look that can be employed creatively for certain types of photography like landscapes, cityscapes, or experimental projects. The intensity of the color cast effect can be controlled by adjusting the exposure. Overexposing the film may result in a subtler effect, while underexposing might enhance the color cast.

Product Features in Detail

Harman Film 135-36 Harman Red 125
Harman Film 135-36 Harman Red 125 offers photographers a unique tool for achieving specific moods or artistic effects in-camera. It's particularly appealing to those interested in a retro, experimental, or distinct look that stands out. It should be viewed as a creative choice rather than a general-purpose film.

When using this film, it's crucial to note that the strong color casts will significantly influence the palette of your images. The film's ISO 125 rating provides fine grain and good resolution that works well for daylight shooting or in bright studio settings.

Being a color negative film means the results are intended for print outputs, although digital scanning is also an option for those looking to digitize their photographs. The final appearance may vary based on the lab's scanning setup and the color profiles applied.

This specialized product would appeal to both professional photographers looking to experiment with their visual style and to hobbyists interested in producing unique and eye-catching film photographs.

Given its distinctive aesthetic, Harman Red 125 is less suited to conventional photography that requires natural color reproduction, such as portraiture or standard landscape photography, unless the photographer is aiming for an unconventional look.

HARMAN RED 125 is a medium speed, ISO 125, redscale film based on the HARMAN Phoenix emulsion.

Redscale is the effect you get when shooting through the back of a colour film and exposing the red sensitive layer first, creating amazing results primarily consisting of reds, oranges and yellows.

With a DX coded cassette, edge signing and a box speed of ISO 125, HARMAN RED has a usable exposure range of EI 50 - 400. For best results we recommend shooting between EI 100 - 200 depending on scene brightness and contrast.

Depending upon the exposure and colour characteristics of a scene, images can range from strong "apocalyptic" looking bright orange and red tones to more subtle orange and green tones with delicate shadows.

Under exposure - Coarser grain, prominent shadows, deeper reds.
Normal exposure - Normal grain, Consistent orange tones, softer shadows.
Over Exposure - Finer grain - Brighter, more contrasty images, varying tones.
