It's been said in the past that the Wii can help you get some of your daily exercise thanks to the interactive movements and now Nintendo is capitalising on that with the Wii Fit.
The Nintendo Wii Fit, which is due to arrive in Australian stores on May 8, is a health-focused pack consisting of the game itself, which features over 40 exercises such as balance games, yoga, muscle workouts and aerobic exercises, and the Balance Board, as pictured here.
The motion-sensitive Balance Board is crucial to using the game successfully. It works together with the game to analyse your Body Mass Index (BMI) and centre of gravity to help you get more out of the games.
And the games are where it gets interesting. For example, if you want to do strength exercises, your on-screen instructor will take you through the likes of arm and leg lifts, push ups and more.
Or if yoga is more your speed, you can run through poses such as the sun salutation and half moon. And then there are the balance games, including tightrope walking and soccer heading.
For anyone serious about improving their fitness, the Wii Fit monitors and records your progress so you can see if you are making any gains.
The recommended retail price for the Wii Fit is $149.95.
