In the world of video games, arguably no character has proved to be as popular and enduring as Mario.
The portly Italian plumber is not only Nintendo's mascot but has also been the star of some of its most popular games across all consoles.
He first appeared on the Nintendo Entertainment System 23 years ago and since then Mario and his brother Luigi have made an appearance on all subsequent Nintendo consoles.
Super Mario Galaxy was made for the Nintendo Wii and while diehard Mario fans have hailed it as a masterpiece, you don't need to have any previous knowledge of the series to appreciate the game.
Super Mario Galaxy is a 3D adventure and the graphics and gameplay are outstanding. Mario travels throughout a number of different galaxies to rescue Peach, each involving puzzles and traps for you to solve.
The Wii Remote offers a new spin as well. You can shake it to make Mario spin or travel to a hidden world and it can also be used as a pointer to collect star bits.
Graphics and audio are outstanding and are generally believed to be the best you will find on the Nintendo Wii. The game's camera can even be switched to first-person mode so you can see the gameplay as if you were in the game.
