If you're a jogger, chances are you have an iPod to keep you entertained while you pound the pavement (or the treadmill at the gym).
If that's the case, the Nike iPod Sport Kit will help give an extra boost to your workout.
The Nike kit is designed to work with the popular iPod nano player. The supplied pedometer plugs into your nano and helps you keep track of your workout, set yourself goals and more.
In its most basic mode, the kit measures how far you run while playing music. But there are other functions, too - you can also select a distance you want to run (a voice will give you updates on your current distance as you make progress) or even how many calories you want to burn. You'll also be told what your average speed is throughout the course of the workout and be given an average at the end.
Another cool feature is "Power Song". You can designate a song that really gets you going, and when you need to ramp up your workout you simply press a button and that song will play (also great for anyone who knows the benefits of interval training).
But what makes the Nike iPod kit really special is the online functionality. Visit the companion website, sign up for a free account and you'll then be able to upload all your workout data when it's synchronised with iTunes - in fact, this is done automatically. You can then view graphs of your workouts, compare times and set yourself goals. You can even compare yourself to other people from around the world.
The kit itself carries an affordable price tag but you also need compatible shoes. That does make the whole package somewhat pricier, but if you're really serious about running and getting fit, why not?
