A smartphone offers capabilities and functions beyond those of a standard mobile phone.
There is no actual list of agreed features for what constitutes a smartphone and you can't help but feel that HTC has taken a slight advantage of this lack of a strict definition by labelling the P3470 a "smartphone".
For when it comes down to it, the P3470 really isn't that comprehensively featured when compared with the other smartphones in the HTC range. For example, the P3470 is the only HTC handset that is 2G rather than 3G. Of course, that's what you have to expect when the price tag is significantly less (in some cases, half).
Still, the HTC P3470 is a decent device that functions as both a mobile phone and a GPS navigation unit (it comes with on-board navigation software). It also comes with Mobile Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Internet Explorer. There's also a 2-megapixel camera.
Last but not least, the HTC P3470 is an attractive smartphone, which is an important consideration for some. It comes in glossy black with rounded edges, giving it a sleek modern look.
