Some of the most popular compact digital cameras in recent years have come from Canon.
The IXUS 80 IS is a relatively new addition to Canon's digital camera stable but should also prove to be popular with anyone looking for a reliable camera at a reasonable price.
It builds on the popular IXUS 70 model, upgrading to 8-megapixel resolution and tweaking some of the features including improved face detection technology and image stabilisation.
The Canon IXUS 80 IS is a great digital camera for anyone at the beginner to intermediate stage of camera use - it's easy to use as there are no manual exposure controls (instead you'll find a nice choice of preset scene modes). The menu is easy to navigate, as are all the buttons.
Performance-wise, the IXUS 80 IS has nice image quality for a camera in this price range, although it can be a little slow between shots. Finally, there is also an array of colours to choose from, including silver, brown, blue, pink and gold.
