Caroline's Shopping Secrets   -  November 2008

  • I was flicking through the latest issue of Shop Til You Drop yesterday when I saw something truly cool.

It was the Kroom Beehive Bookcase pictured here from Room To Grow which is made out of cardboard - and is apparently much sturdier than what you'd think (see the evidence here).

It also packs flat and weighs in at just 8.1kg so you can easily move it yourself - especially handy if you move house a lot. And the price is good, too - just $96.

There is a whole range of Kroom lightweight cardboard furniture including a range for kids that is made of at least 70% recyclable materials, including the Maggie Storage Cabinet pictured above, which weighs even less than the bookcase (it's under 5kg and sells for $75.95 online at ShopHouse).

Check the Room To Grow website for a stockist near you, as well as online stockists.
